Boy Meets Girl ( a different sorta sitcom from the BBC)

Boy Meets Girl may seem like just another generic throw away sitcom..hell even the title sounds bland and generic and yes..forgettable.

But this being 2017 the writers decided to put a twist on the old formula and introduce a lead transgendered character into the mix.

Okay so you may be saying aren't the pulling a "j.j. abrams"( director of the star trek movies etc) here leo..aren't they all going pc on us and just putting in various diverse groups to show how progressive they are..

The answer is no...it isn't in your face/it isn't preachy/its not trying to convert you. It is merely a sitcom.about two people falling in love without the social stigmas attached to it. It doesn't bash people who disagree or don't understand/don't make them out to be gender nazis. Nor does it make the lead character out to be some social justice warrior or cause head.

The basic set up is younger guy is in a bar with his wanker brother ( and yep the brother is a complete wanker), a woman comes into the bar to deliver a cake. The younger guy asks her out on a date. On the date the woman immediately comes out and tells the dude.."listen I was born with a penis.."

and this guy stumbles for a second and then continues his conversation. It would be like telling someone a deep dark secret and them shrugging it off and saying " what's the big deal?"

The guy really doesn't care that she has transitioned...

The audience is expecting the date to crash and burn and this woman to be hurt...
But it never does.. he honestly doesn't care.

Now I'm only one episode in .....BUT I really like the show because the lead character reminds me so much of myself...hell his name is even leo.

I honestly don't care if your straight/bi/gay/transgendered/crossdressing/kinky/lgbtqxyz?.. if I'm attracted to the person, then what plumbing they have or don't doesn't matter to me.

I could see myself in leo's shoes.( dating an older transgendered woman)..hell I'd even go further than that..just by episode one it sounds like she has had a sex change operation...I'd date her if she still had her rod and tackle box..doesn't matter to me and could come in handy..lol

I honestly wished the show hadn't made that choice...why? considering how many transgendered people don't or can't afford the actual sex change operation..I think it might have made the character more realistic..I mean the show is a good step in the right direction, but I also don't believe we should judge someone for what they are born with. It's like saying a transgendered person should only be accepted if ( and only if) they go through the complete process.

And honestly have you ever seen pics of the complete process (especially for a woman transitioning into a man...the female to male operation isn't full proof/leaves a floppy piece of skin that resembles a penis and has to be made erect through a penis pump..
I can easily see why a person would forego the operation and just take hormones ..and who cares that she is now a woman with a dick or a dude with a va-jj...
But then again it is a sitcom.and not meant to be heavy

And the characters on the show are so genuine...it isn't so much a show about being transgendered as it is finding love and acceptance for who you are.
Plus the woman's mom is so british you could just scoop her up and eat her with a spoon..it a quint lil show.

And I am hardly a "snowflake" or a progressive person...BUT it makes you wonder why people care...why do you care if your date outside their race/religion or come out as gay or bi or transgendered? Why do you care who they date as long is the person is a good person
Shouldn't parents just be happy that their found someone to love?

This is what this show is trying to teach.
